Compassion Training for Organizations
Create culture of care for employees w/ caregiver responsibilities.
Service Description
A Culture of Care begins by recognizing these realities as part of organizational infrastructure. It asks leaders to examine how caregiving demands, burnout pressures, employment instability, and workplace harm influence who can participate fully, remain in roles, grow into leadership, and sustain a long-term career in the arts. When these realities are treated as individual issues, organizations unintentionally place the burden of adaptation on the people navigating them. But when they are understood as structural conditions, organizations have the opportunity to redesign the systems, practices, and cultures that shape people's experiences. At PAAL, we call this work building a Culture of Care. Through our Compassion Training, we help arts organizations translate this mindset into practical, organization-wide strategies that strengthen equity, sustainability, and workplace culture. PAAL works at the intersection of caregiving, arts leadership, and organizational transformation to advance this conversation and support leaders in reimagining what sustainable, equitable arts workplaces can look like. The next step is moving from recognizing these realities to understanding what it takes to transform them.
