The Lactation Space - Rider Sample | PAAL


Employer will provide a lactation space in accordance with the requirements articulated and recommended by law by the US Breastfeeding Committee. The lactation space does not need to be designated for lactation use only except when the employee with lactation needs uses it; the lactation space must be available every time the employee with lactation needs has the need for it; a minimum of signage insisting "do not enter" and/or a lock on the door will be provided for the employee with lactation needs to prevent disruption. The lactation space will also include the items listed as best practice including but not excluded to: cannot be a bathroom, must have comfortable seating, a clean and open surface to serve as a table near the primary seating, primary seating will be a comfortable chair that will always be available in the designated space and that the employee does not have to provide or move into the room in order to use it. The employee may have a designated space in the company fridge to store breastmilk as requested and/or a small fridge that remains powered in the lactation space, company green room, dressing room, or primary working space of the employee with lactation needs. The fridge will be no more than five minutes walking from the employee's primary working location, and any additional distance will be provided as additional time toward the employees break. Union breaks provided to the company will not be used or counted as breastfeeding breaks. Separate breastfeeding breaks will be allowed for the employee for a minimum of 20 minutes at intervals not to exceed two hours. If the employee chooses, breastfeeding and/or pumping may be completed in other locations that best serve the employee, regardless of activity or present company with discretion and possible exceptions of show run-throughs, performances, and locations where sound recording is taking place.
